"Savor" Coffee House
May 15, 2009
7:30-10:00 pm

The Somerset Art Association will be transformed into a hip and happening place filled with the unique musical style of folk singer and songwriter Steve Kunzman and the smooth sounds of pianist Hank Rosenthal. Professional artist John Reilly, who has created a signature painting exclusively for the event, will be showing his works in the Johnson Gallery while artist demonstrations by W.Carl Burger, Mark DeMos and Norma Rahn will fascinate and engage viewers. Additionally, SAA instructor Frank Bowman Krimmel and his students will be demonstrating on potter's wheels in the Marvin S. Flowerman Ceramic Studio while Starbucks' employees will create a 'live' mural which will take form throughout the evening.
The Coffee House is being sponsored by the Bedminster, Warren and Riverwalk at Basking Ridge Starbucks. "Starbucks is committed to giving back to the communities where we do business and in bringing people together through volunteer service. The volunteer hours are then matched financially by Starbucks" says Bedminster Starbucks' Manager James Kelewae who was particularly excited by the opportunity to partner with the Somerset Art Association. "The arts have always been important to me," he explains. "They provide quality of life and are an instrumental part of the human condition by providing opportunities to reflect, reevaluate and find substance in the fleeting moments of life." Starbucks' employees have been actively involved in every stage of the event and have donated countless number of hours to insure the Coffee House’s success. "Starbucks is a wonderful corporate partner," says Robyn Tromeur, Executive Director of the Somerset Art Association. "While the down turned economy has and continues to present financial challenges to the arts community, Starbucks' steadfast and generous support is incredible. Plans are already underway to partner with Starbucks again this fall to transform the Coffee House into a signature event for our community."
Naturally at the Coffee House there will be plenty of Starbucks' coffees, teas and pastries, and guests are encourage to bring their own bottles of wine. There will also be a silent auction to help raise much needed general operating support for the Somerset Art Association and a chance to win one of many door prizes.
