“The History of the Color Blue"
Barbara Tomlinson lecturer
Wednesday, May 21
7:00-8:00 pm

Who would have thought a color could have a
history? But, it does. Over the centuries Blue
has been shaped by the substances that created
it, the symbolisms it has come to represent, the
uses to which it has been put. During the 14th
C, for example, Red and Blue had a fierce
competition for the title of "most important
color." Catholics and Protestants, as usual,
wound up on different sides of the struggle.
From the Medieval Blue devil to Mary's Blue to
Klein Blue, to Blue Jeans, come learn the
incredible story of the color Blue. |
